Middletown’s Demographics 

As of the census GR2 of 2010, there were 28,086 people residing in the City.  Population change from 2000-2010 was 10.6%, 9,522 households.  There were 10,866 housing units in 2010. The racial makeup of the City was 52.4% White, 21.0% African American, .08% Native American, 1.9% Asian, 37.1% from other races, and 5.3% from two or more races.  Also, there were 39.7% Hispanic or Latino origin in the City.

Within the population of 28,086, in 2010, 8.1% were under 5 yrs. of age, 27.3% were under 18 yrs. of age, 10.6%  were over 65 years of age and older, 51.1% were female.  The average household size was 2.84.

The median income for a household in the City was $54,354.  The per capita income for the City was $22,614.  About 17.8 % of families of the population were below the poverty line.

Middletown’s land area in square miles in 2010 was 5.08, and persons per square mile 5,533.1.
