125TH EVENT SCHEDULE

June 2, 2013 Sunday- "The Wallkill Guards – Middletown's First to Fight for the Union." A presentation by Ryan Conklin, who is currently writing a book on the 18th NYS Volunteers. The Wallkill Guards were formed at Gothic Hall in Middletown one week after Lincoln's first call for volunteers. Thrall Library, 2nd floor meeting room, 2:00PM-4:00PM.

June 11, 2013 Tuesday - - "Flight of the Vin Fiz." – Middletown was the first stop on the first successful coast to coast flight. Cal Rodgers landed the Vin Fiz, an early Wright Brothers biplane, at the old "Pleasure Grounds" in September1911. Presentation by Edward and Linda Dubin, Thrall Library, 2nd floor meeting room, 6:30PM-7:30PM.

June 22, 2013 Saturday – June 29, 2013 Saturday – "Railroads of Middletown Exhibit" an overview from 1860 to the present of photographs, reproductions, stories, movies and maps of the Middletown Railroad history at the former TD Bank at 2 South Street open from 11:00AM to 7:00PM.

June 22, 2013 Saturday - Hoffman Lodge - 125th Anniversary of Middletown Kick Off "Summer Breeze Ball" at Hoffman Lodge, 9 Courtland Street, 5:30PM.  A black tie event with dining and dancing with local dignitaries only $45.00 a person.  Call 845-294-9557 or 845-259-2323 for information.

June 23, 2013 Sunday - 5th Annual Latin Festival at Thrall Park 12:00 Noon to 7:00PM.

June 23, 2013 Sunday - Interfaith Service at Festival Square at 3:00PM: Middletown is a prayerful community, with no less than eight church buildings built in the 19th century anchoring the downtown area, along with numerous religious communities located throughout the city and the area. Therefore, it is only fitting that an inclusive and participatory worship service, organized by the Greater Middletown Interfaith Council and featuring representatives from Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Hindu faith traditions, will help kick off our week of celebration. Let us gather at Festival Square (West Main St.) on Sunday, June 23rd, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to give thanks to God for both the diversity and the unity that our community encompasses or at the Paramount in case of rain.

June 23, 2013 Sunday - "The SUNY Orange Symphonic Band", with artistic director/ conductor Kevin Scott, at Festival Square 6:00PM, or at the Paramount in case of rain.

June 25, 2013 Tuesday - Temple Sinai Open House at 4:30PM to visit our Sanctuary up close and personal plus hear a bit about our historical past and a bit about our dynamic present.

June 25, 2013 Tuesday- - "Middletown in the Great War: The Men of Company I" ~ a lecture presentation by Robert Polhamus is at 7:00PM in Orange Hall Gallery.

June 26, 2013 Wednesday Vin Fiz Historic Marker Unveiling - 7:00PM at 41-45 Dolson Ave, Middletown NY.

June 26, 2013 Wednesday - Latin Concert across from Garcia Market on North Street at 7:30PM featuring Fajardo Jr. y su Orqueata.

June 27, 2013 Thursday - Middletown School Concert, presented by Robert Gavin, will feature musical performances from students in grades 4-12 at the Paramount Theater 7:00PM. The High School's Get It Ready technicians will serve as ushers.

June 28, 2013 Friday - Opening of the Time Capsule from the 1910 corner stone of City Hall 6:00PM at City Hall on James Street.

June 28, 2013 Friday - Jimmy Sturr Stars and Stripes Concert - 7:00PM at Festival Square.

June 28, 2013 Friday - Blues Artist at the Park next to Something Sweet at 7:30PM to 9:00PM featuring Murali Coryell Trio Blues Group.

June 28, 2013 Friday - Middletown Anniversary Birthday Cake Bash at 8:00PM at Festival Square and at the park next to Something Sweet on North Street, which three local Middletown Bakeries - Carmine's Bakery, DeFilippis Bakery and Something Sweet will create and bake for the City's 125th Birthday Cake Bash.

June 29, 2013 Saturday- Historic Walking Tour of Hillside Cemetery - 9:00AM to 12:00PM - Hillside is truly a Gem in Orange County, constructed in 1861 was designed by Architect Calvert Vaux which is best known for his design and construction of New York City's Central Park.  Mr. Vaux had over 2000 trees and shrubs planted throughout the grounds which make a majestic setting.  Several thousand families are buried in the cemetery, representing 200 plus years of local history.  Veterans going back to the Revolutionary War are buried there.

June 29, 2013 Saturday - Start at 2:45PM Orange Runners Club - Historic Hustle 1.25 Dash through History to benefit the Mayor's Youth Council - The mile and a quarter course starts on Highland Avenue, near its intersection with Wisner Avenue.  The Runners will proceed south on Highland Ave, turning left onto West Main Street and finishing at Franklin Square.  Registration Packets at Something Sweet Dessert Cafe.

June 29, 2013 Saturday - 125th Anniversary Parade - Starting at Highland and Wickham Avenue at 3:00PM at the Armory, through downtown ending at Thrall Park. Parade will be featuring famous bands, decorated floats, local civic groups, veterans, local youth groups, Interfaith Council and elected officials and dignitaries from local, county and state government.

June 29, 2013 Saturday - Fireworks/Music by the La Blanc Brothers/Food at Davidge Park - 7:00PM at Davidge Park.  Fireworks rain date is Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Davidge Park.

June 30, 2013 Sunday - Middletown Art Group Reception - 1:00PM - 4:00PM at Orange Hall Gallery
