Our mission is to protect the public through education and the enforcement of the Fire Code of New York State.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention consists of one Fire Inspector and twenty-six Fire Code Compliance Technicians. The Code Compliance Technicians are City of Middletown Professional Fire Fighters and Lieutenants who are New York State Certified. 

The Bureau of Fire Prevention conducts over 500 fire safety inspections annually on Public Assemblies, Industrial Occupancies, and Commercial Properties as well as building services installation inspections such as Sprinkler Systems, Fire Alarms, and Commercial Cooking Hoods.

Additional Forms

Installation permits for Wood and Pellet stoves as well as underground tank installation and removal applications are available at the DPW office, on the second floor of City Hall.
